Multi-Location And Franchise SEO
Rank every branch in its own area without the locations competing with each other.
Multi-location SEO breaks in two predictable places: location pages that are the same page with the town name swapped, and Business Profiles managed inconsistently by people at each branch. Both are solvable, but both need a system rather than a one-off fix.
You probably need this if
- Your location pages are identical apart from the place name
- Branches outrank each other for the same local searches
- Individual franchisees have created duplicate or conflicting profiles
- One strong branch takes all the visibility and the others get nothing
What you get
- Location page template with genuine per-branch differentiation built in
- Google Business Profile management structure across all locations
- Duplicate and conflicting listing cleanup
- Internal linking model that stops branches cannibalising each other
- Per-location performance reporting
How we approach it
-
Audit every location
Establish which branches have profiles, which are duplicated and which are suppressed, since large estates usually have all three.
-
Differentiate the pages
Give each location page real content, such as its own team, opening hours, parking, service area and local detail, rather than a find-and-replace on the town name.
-
Centralise profile governance
Put profile management under a single structure with clear rules, so individual branches cannot undo the work.
-
Report per branch
Measure each location separately, because an aggregate figure hides the branches that are invisible.
Multi-Location SEO: common questions
Are location pages duplicate content?
They are if you produce them by swapping the town name in an identical template, which is the most common mistake in this area. Pages carrying genuinely different information about each branch, such as staff, hours, directions and local service detail, are not duplicates and rank perfectly well.
Should each branch have its own Google Business Profile?
Yes, provided each has a genuine staffed presence at that address. Every legitimate location should have its own verified profile with its own hours and phone number. Creating profiles for addresses without a real presence risks suspension across the whole estate.
How do we stop branches competing with each other?
Give each location page a clearly distinct geographic focus, link to them from a properly structured location index, and avoid targeting the same town from two pages. Where catchments genuinely overlap, pick one page to own the term.
